The Kumasi Baba Yara Sports stadium will be ready for use in the latter part of June, the National Sports Authority has revealed.

It comes after  a year of renovation work at facility, which servers as home for Asante Kotoko and King Faisal.

According to the Director-General, Professor Peter Twumasi, the facility which has being under renovation for months will soon be opened for use.

In February 2020, the National Sports Authority closed the venue for renovation after failing to maintain the stadium for many years leading to it deteriorating.

“There is a minor painting to be done but all major works have been completed and the place is ready to be used,” Prof. Twumasi told Daily Graphic.

“The Stadium is going to be key for our preparation and hosting of the 2023 Africa Games, all track and field sporting activities can be held there.

The NSA Capo added that, all 40,000 plastic seats have been installed while the pitch had undergone total refurbishment with modern drainage systems constructed around it.

“We have erected a new scoreboard, LED floodlight, remolded the presidential stand and fixed the roofs and washrooms,”.
