No 2028 campaign if Mahama doesn’t deliver- Mustapha Gbande,

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has issued a strong warning to party members, declaring that he will not take part in the party’s 2028 election campaign if President John Mahama fails to deliver on his mandate.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Thursday, Mr. Gbande stressed that the NDC’s political future is directly tied to Mahama’s performance in office. He argued that party members who view the president’s success as separate from their own are misguided.
“Anybody who thinks Mahama’s success is not their success is being delusional. If he fails, the NDC will go into opposition because I will not go for the campaign. My principles will not allow me to go and lie,” he declared.
According to Mr. Gbande, a successful Mahama presidency would set a strong foundation for the party heading into the 2028 general elections, regardless of who leads the ticket.
“If President Mahama succeeds, whoever will be our candidate, we will do everything and by every means ensure he becomes president,” he said.
Gbande warned that policy implementation could fail if the party does not meaningfully engage citizens at the local level.
“Policies will fail if we don’t meet the people on the ground. Farmers don’t understand our kind of English; they need practical engagement,” he noted.
He concluded by urging the party to prioritise results and performance under President Mahama over personal ambitions and internal posturing.
