Ghana’s official kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been ranked the most beautiful football jersey in the world, according to a global ranking attributed to The New York Times.

The Black Stars’ design topped a list of 48 national team kits, beating football powerhouses Brazil, England and Germany to claim first place.

Brazil’s jersey was ranked second, followed by England in third place, while Germany and Morocco completed the top five.

The ranking has generated excitement among Ghanaian football fans, many of whom have praised the kit’s bold design, cultural symbolism and distinctive national colours.

Ghana’s jersey appears to have resonated strongly with voters and fashion observers, highlighting the growing influence of African-inspired sportswear on the global stage.

Several African nations featured prominently in the rankings. Morocco placed fifth, Cape Verde tenth, Côte d’Ivoire fourteenth, South Africa nineteenth and Senegal thirty-second.

Defending world champions Argentina were ranked thirteenth, while France finished fifteenth. Traditional football heavyweights Portugal, Uruguay and the Netherlands were placed twenty-first, thirty-fifth and forty-second respectively.

At the lower end of the table, Canada was ranked forty-seventh, with Croatia finishing in last place at forty-eighth.

The recognition comes as anticipation builds ahead of the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Beyond performances on the pitch, national team kits continue to play an important role in showcasing culture, identity and national pride to a global audience.

For many Ghanaian supporters, the top ranking is another reason to celebrate as the Black Stars prepare for the world’s biggest football tournament.
