The family of celebrated Ghanaian veteran actor William Addo has announced funeral arrangements for him and his late wife, Mrs. Agnes Dewornu Akortor-Addo, with the couple set to be buried together in Tefle in the Volta Region.

William Addo, widely respected for his contributions to Ghana’s film industry across several decades, passed away on November 22, 2025, following a short illness.

His wife Agnes followed him in death on May 21, 2026, also after a brief illness — a double loss that has left family, colleagues and fans in mourning.

Funeral activities are scheduled to span three days, beginning on Friday, July 3, 2026, when the mortal remains of the couple will be conveyed from the Sogakope District Hospital Morgue to the Dzavier Family House in Tefle. The family has indicated that there will be no wake-keeping.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, a laying-in-state, viewing and filing past will take place at the Dzavier Family House from 5:00 a.m., followed by a burial service at Dzavieto in Tefle. The couple will subsequently be interred at the Dzavier Family Cemetery.

The funeral proceedings will conclude on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at the House of Prayer Ministry in Tefle.

William Addo leaves behind a legacy that endures in the hearts of Ghanaians who grew up watching him on screen — a devoted craftsman whose work helped shape the landscape of Ghanaian cinema and television.
