Trainees of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in the Kwabere East Municipality of the Ashanti Region are gearing up to the Municipal police command in demand for the release of their coordinator, Mr. Jones Sarfo Anyamesem who was arrested on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, for flouting the laws of the country.

His charges are not immediately known but a statement from the trainees and copied to Ghanaguardian.com says the Coordinator was arrested by the Kwabere police when a team of trainees embarked on a cleanup exercise from Fawoade to Mamponteng as part of activities to welcome President Akufo-Addo to the Municipality.

The statement said: "Upon reaching Mamponteng, the car that was playing music was impounded by the court. The coordinator went there and identified himself as the leader of the group to plead only to be lashed with a one day remand in police custody to reappear in court on Thursday, 10th October, the day, the president is coming to Kwabre East".

Intervention by both the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabere East, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu was unsuccessful as according to the statement, the Magistrate told them "I am doing my work".

FREE KWABRE EAST NPP SECRETARY AND NABCO COORDINATOR FROM REMAND

Our hearts are bleeding, our soul is wailing. How can the secretary of NPP who doubles as NABCO coordinator be remanded when he is embarking on a clean up exercise to welcome the president. On Wednesday, 9th October, 2019, the NABCO team cleaned the streets from Fawoade to Mamponteng.

Upon reaching Mamponteng, the car that was playing music was impounded by the court. The coordinator went there and identified himself as the leader of the group to plead only to be lashed with a one day remand in police custody to reappear in court on Thursday, 10th October, the day, the president is coming to Kwabre East.

The Member of Parliament, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah intervened but the magistrate told her to leave her presence. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Osei Asibey Bonsu was in court to tell her to temper justice with mercy. This is what the magistrate said, " My friend I am doing my work. It will be in your best interest if you leave for your meeting and allow me do my work". Such a gross disrespect to the MCE who is the president of Kwabre East.

How can the majistrate refer to the president as "so called president publicly in court"? Our question, what is the interest of the magistrate? Is it to draw attention to herself? Or to derail the attention of the president?

What worries us was statements coming from some of his own party executives. We saw clearly that some of his own people have an agenda against him politically to plot his downfall . If the politicians can not fight for their NPP secretary, we want to say categorically that we, the NABCO trainees will fight until justice is given Mr. Jones Sarfo Anyamesem.

Fellow trainees from Kwabre East, let's us all move to the court to fight for our coordinator Mr. Jones Sarfo Anyamesem who has worked hard as a leader, a brother and a companion.

We are pruod to be Nation builders of kwabre East.
