The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is inviting members interested in contesting parliamentary seats in 23 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, to pick nomination forms.

The election would be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

A similar exercise is expected to be held in 16 other constituencies in the Eastern, Western and Central Regions.

A statement signed by the party’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah announced that nomination would open from Monday, September 16 to Thursday, September 19, 2019.

The statement said aspirants are expected to file their nominations between Tuesday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Prospective aspirants, the party says would be vetted on September 27 and 28, 2019.

The party on August 24, 2019, held a similar exercise across the country with some incumbent MPs losing their seats to fresh faces.

In the Ashanti Region— the ruling party’s stronghold, two incumbent MPs — Muhammad Bawa Braimah and Alex Adomako-Mensah won the elections held in Ejura-Sekyedumase and Sekyere Afram Plains respectively.

Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak was declared by the party to contest unopposed.
