Eight heavily armed robbers have been gunned down in two separate robbery incidents at Manso-Nkwanta in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

Seven of the robbers were shot and killed after they opened fire on a Police patrol unit in the area after the officers stormed the area over the killing of their colleague who was killed in the mining community last week.

The deceased officer, Lance Corporal Daniel Teiku, was on duty with his colleague, Lance Corporal Eric Nsiah, when the masked men attacked the vehicle they were travelling in at Ayirebikrom near Manso Nkwanta on July 13.

The Ashanti regional Police Command deployed more men to the area in a bid to arrest the criminals.

Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice told Starr News that the bodies of the seven suspected robbers have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Another suspected robber was also gunned down in the community Tuesday morning after he attempted to rob some residents in the area.

A planned press briefing by the Police has been postponed to Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
