Abdul Majeed Dokurgu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Effia Constituency, has distributed mathematical sets to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in preparation for their final test which begins on Monday, July 8th, 2024.

About 890 students in the Effia Constituency benefited from Dokurgu's support, which comes as a respite to some parents. The three-day exercise was part of Dokurgu's initiative to support youth education amid his aim to represent the people in Parliament in the December 2024 election.

Speaking to the media after the exercise, Majeed expressed his motivation for the gesture, which he believes can make a "big difference"
"As someone who understands the importance of education, I felt compelled to offer my widow's mite to these young students," he said
"Every child deserves the tools they need to succeed, and I hope these mathematical sets will help them during their exams. Education is the foundation of our future, and by supporting these students, we're investing in the future of our constituency and our nation.
"I believe that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in a student's life, especially during such a crucial time as the BECE."

The schools visited during the distribution included Al-Azhariya, Dunwell Methodist, Rev. Grant Methodist, Cobbah Yalley, Nana Brempong, Effia Methodist, TAMSCO A and B, Christ Apostolic Preparatory JHS, Ahmadiyya JHS, and Lagos Town Key JHS. Together with some constituency executives, the team took time to hold pep talks with the students at every school they visited.

Dokurgu further urged the students to take their education seriously, encouraging them to believe in themselves while working hard to achieve their academic aims.
"Your education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change your life and our society. As you prepare for your BECE, remember that your dedication today will shape your tomorrow," he said.
"Don't just aim to pass; aim to excel. Your success in these exams is a stepping stone to greater achievements. Believe in yourselves, work hard, and know that your community is rooting for you.
"This is your moment to shine and pave the way for a brighter future."

This gesture by the NDC candidate comes as part of broader efforts by various stakeholders to support students preparing for this critical examination in Ghana's educational system.
Over 4.4 million students across the country will be taking part in the five-day exercise, scheduled to begin on Monday, July 8th, 2024, and continue through to Friday, July 12th, 2024.
