Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Shakur Mohammed came off the bench to deliver an assist as Nashville SC thrashed Atlético Ottawa 5-0 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Tuesday night.

The emphatic victory sealed Nashville’s progression to the Round of 16, where they will take on Inter Miami CF in what promises to be a high-profile encounter.

‎Introduced in the second half, Mohammed wasted little time in making his presence felt. The former Ghana youth international showed composure and vision to set up one of the goals, helping to cap a dominant display by the Major League Soccer side against their Canadian opponents.

It was a night of mixed fortunes for the Ghanaian contingent as Mohammed’s compatriot, Maxwell Woledzi, was named among the substitutes but did not feature in the contest.

‎For Mohammed, the assist underlined his growing influence within the Nashville squad and his readiness to seize opportunities when called upon. With a challenging tie against Inter Miami looming, the 24-year-old will be hoping his contribution strengthens his case for a more prominent role as the competition intensifies.
