Mukarama Abdulai helped his Tyler Junior College (TJC) Apache ladies soccer team win its fourth consecutive NJCAA Division I Women’s National Soccer Tournament on Saturday in Melbourne, Florida.

Tyler Junior College, appearing in it’s fourth straight national title game, won their fourth national championship with a 4-1 win over Monroe (New York) College.

TJC took the lead in the 7-minute  mark of the first half as Abdulai Mukarama netted a goal with an assist from Natalie Martinez.

The No. 1 seed Lady Mustangs, who suffered their first loss of the season for a 14-1 record, tied the game at 1-1 in the 43 minute when Luana Grabias scored.

Abdulai Mukarama restored TJC's lead in the 56 minute when she headed in a cross from Martinez for  2-1.

The two exchanged places just under three minutes later when Martinez scored off a cross from Mukarama to make it 3-1.

With under a minute left in the game, Marta Estupinan, off an assist from Patricia Estupinan, made it 4-1.

It is the 62nd national sports championship for TJC. The Apache Ladies, all under Coach Corey Rose, have this year’s national soccer crown to go along with titles in 2009, 2011 and 2017.

The Apache Ladies avenged last year’s loss to the Lady Mustangs in the finale. Monroe was aiming for its third championship after having winning it in 2014 and 2018.

Hitomi Yamaue, a defender, was named in the team of the tournament while Rose was named Coach of the Tournament.
