The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye together with his regional executives, has held a Town Hall meeting with the polling station coordinators, council of elders, electoral area coordinators and constituency executives of the Sunyani East and West constituencies in the Bono Region.

The meeting was an idea and innovation of the Regional Chairman targeted at calming the nerves, re-energizing and re-strategizing the polling station fraternity of the party.

Abronye DC noted at one of the meeting that the Polling station executives have a role of organizing the party at the polling station level, taking the lead in the local and national election campaigns and playing its part in persuading electorates to vote for their presidential and parliamentary candidates of the NPP.

According to him Polling station executives have the utmost duty to organize the party at the grassroots level to serve as a direct link between the party and the electorates.

“I deem it is important for me as the regional chairman of the Bono Region to organize this town hall meeting so as to bring all Polling Station Executives and members of the Bono Region under one umbrella so as to provide me with the forum to lecture and educate them on the  policies of President Akufo Addo so that they can also do same to the individual electorates.

It is of no deniable fact that, the NPP won power in 2016 due to the tireless effort of our able polling station force nationwide however, since we assumed power, most of the polling station executives and members are complaining of being abandoned and neglected despite their unflinching sacrifices which has brought the party an unprecedented victory in the historic annals of Ghana.

President Akuffo Addo has done remarkable well with the implementation of policies, infrastructure development and putting in strict measures to help stabilize the economy... I can attest that, these achievements are visible at the local level however, it will take the polling station machinery to effectively communicate and decentralize these remarkable and unprecedented achievements chalked by His Excellency President Akuffo Addo to the individual electorates and further persuade them to vote for him come 2020 general elections,” he said.

He added that, “ It is of no doubt that, President Akufo Addo has done his utmost best to give the polling station machinery a good campaign message however, the polling station machinery is reluctant and are unwilling to share these achievements because, they are complaining of inadequate resources at the polling station level to facilitate their decentralization of the achievements of the president…to add to that, there are so many policies factored in the pipelines by the His Excellency President Akuffo Addo which will enormously benefit the citizens and people  of Ghana from 2020.

These policies include PERD, The cocoa pension scheme,etc... Furthermore, the unprecedented expansion witnessed by the Railway Sector is also very laudable and thus, I deem it appropriate that, the polling station executives and members are made aware of the benefits that may arise for them there from. Abronye said he is optimistic these benefits will be beneficial from 2020,” he stressed.

He also opined that, since elections are won at the polling station level, it is prudent to keep touch, provide resource and equip with the polling station machinery of the party.

He posited that effective communication must be done at the polling station level and for this to be a reality; he deems it appropriate that the town hall meeting will give him the needed platform to encourage and keep hopes alive in the polling station machinery.

He pleaded and encouraged the polling station executives and members to continue believing in President Akufo-Addo because he has delivered and is delivering and he shall surely deliver to the satisfaction of everyone.

He also reiterated the fact that the polices formulated by the president in the pipeline is to the benefit of the polling station and grassroots members of the party.

"For instance, the Bono region will benefit immensely from the cocoa pension scheme because the region is one of the Cocoa producing regions in the family", he said.

He also added that "the expansion of the Railway way sector will boost employment in the coming year and thus, our grassroots members are definitely going to benefit for this reason I shall plead with them to keep calm, avoid agitations and dragging their feet to duty."

The Regional Chairman and his entire regional executives are expected to tour the entire region and discuss matters of party and constituency interest.
