Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank, (ADB) Dr. John Kofi Mensah, has been adjudged best Chief Executive Officer of state owned banks at the Ghana Industry CEO awards organized by the Business Executives Magazine in Accra.

He beat off stiff competition from the CEOs of the National Investment Bank, the Consolidated Bank and the GCB Bank to emerge winner as the most performing CEO amongst the state owned Banks.

Appointed CEO of the ADB in August 2017, Dr. Kofi Mensah has since turned the fortunes of the Bank around. The Bank has moved away from its negative financial records and has been on the positive growth path for the past two years.

It has also refocused to its core mandate of Agricultural financing with the restructuring of its hitherto Agricultural Financing dept into an Agribusiness Division. Under his watch, the bank has set out an ambitious target of making 50% of its loan portfolios to be concentrated on agriculture by the year 2022 from the current 39%.

The General Counsel of the Bank, Mr. Maxwell Amoakohene, who received the award on behalf of Dr. John Kofi Mensah, thanked the public for the confidence bestowed in the Managing Director. "On behalf of our MD we are grateful for this award, which is a vindication of the good work he is doing at the Bank," he said. He dedicated the award to the Board, Management, staff and cherished customers for their loyalty to the ADB Brand.

This recognition follows the three other awards the bank won at the industry awards recently; namely the Premium Quality Ghanaian Bank at the Ghana Business Quality and Pride Awards, the Outstanding Contribution to the Economy Award at the Ghana Business Awards and was also ranked 96th at the 18th edition of the Ghana Club 100 awards.
