FIFA has approved Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman change of nationality to represent Nigeria instead of England, world soccer’s governing body said Thursday.

Lookman, who is on loan at Leicester from Leipzig, was part of England’s title win at the 2017 Under-20 World Cup.

The 24-year-old London native, who was born to Nigerian parents, has not played for England’s senior team.

Currently back in England with Leicester City, after struggling at the likes of Fulham, RasenBallsport Leipzig and Everton in recent years, the 24-year-old has scored three Premier League goals so far this season.
Ghana’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off 1st leg against Nigeria will take place at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday, March 24, 2022 before playing the second leg three days later with Ademola Lookman eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

He follows the likes of Alex Iwobi, Maduka Okoye, Leon Balogun, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong who have dual nationalities but opted for Nigeria at the senior level.
