Out-of-favour New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman, Paul Afoko has set sights on the Kumasi Asante Kotoko high office with rumours rife in the Ashanti regional capital suggesting that the business mogul could be given the nod.

Afoko, who has been suspended by the opposition party is believed to be lacing up his boots to take over the record Ghana Prmier League champions in a bid to make the club a giant one in Africa again as he is ready to invest massively in the Porcupines.

The business mogul who is reported to be an ardent Kotoko fan is said to have held discussions with the honchos at the Manhyia Palace and is seen as an ideal man for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi-based premier league side.

According to the spokesperson of the Kempiski Hotel boss, Nana Yaw Osei, Mr Afoko is a known Kotoko supporter and also has full respect for the Asantehene (Kotoko life patron) so will never turn down the opportunity to serve the great club.

“I know he reveres and respect the Otumfuo immensely and will never disappoint him if duty calls. I can also tell you that no one has approached Mr Afoko in respect of the matter. It is a rumour which I also heard a couple of days ago,” Nana Yaw said.

He described Mr Afoko as a staunch supporter of the porcupines warriors who will be willing to accept and execute any duty the respected King will assign him.

Nana Yaw Osei however rebutted claims Mr Afoko has no experience in managing football clubs and therefore not suitable for the job, stating that one does not require such an experience before he assumes the position.

According to him, there have been several managers who achieved laurels for the great club yet had little or no experience in club management.

“I believe that Mr Afoko when assigned any role executes it to the best of his ability which is mostly applauded. I know that should the rumour turn out to be true, he will give off his best and make Kotoko go places”, he emphasized
