Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah wobbled off injured at the Mapei Stadium in Empoli's 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo in  Serie A on Friday.

The Blues got off to a flying start when Francesco Caputoh gave them the lead under a minute before Kevin-Prince Boateng equalized for the visitors in the 13th minute.

Empoli suffered another set-back in the 14 minute, manager Aurelio Andreazzoli was forced into an early substitution after Afriyie Acquah picked up a knock.

Second half goals from Gian Marco Ferrar and Federico Di Francesco ensured the home team cruised to a comfortable victory.

Acquah is expected to undergo tests today to examine the extent of the injury.
