Ghana forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has reached a personal milestone after scoring his 10th league goal of the season for FC Aarau, despite the club’s 3-1 home defeat to Etoile Carouge in the Swiss Challenge League.
The 24-year-old found the net in the 78th minute to draw Aarau level, raising hopes of a comeback. However, a late collapse saw the hosts concede twice, handing victory to their opponents and dealing a blow to their promotion ambitions.
Barnieh, a former Hearts of Oak striker, has been in impressive form this season, also registering six assists. His contributions have been key to Aarau’s push for promotion.
With five matches remaining, Aarau sit three points behind FC Vaduz in the race for promotion.
The Ghana international recently committed his future to the club, signing a contract extension that will keep him at Aarau until the summer of 2028.
