74830511-295Former two-time world champion, Joseph “King Kong” Agbeko (30-5, 23 KO’s) has apologised to Ghanaian boxing fans for the postponement of his scheduled bout with Tanzania’s Haji Juma (16-8-5, 8 KO’s) at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to reports, Agbeko’s camp failed to meet certain requirements set by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), therefore their inability to sanction the bout.

A press statement released by the former World Champion reads;

“I have waited anxiously to get back in the ring, to do what I love and bring glory to God and my nation, Ghana.

“Due to a call we could not turn down, the fight would not be able to happen tonight as planned. Fresh King Entertainment and myself are really really sorry to my fans in Ghana and across the world for this new development.

“Haji Juma is here in Ghana and ready to fight. He has agreed to be kept here for a week or more until we give the boxing fans a fight worth waiting for.

“I appreciate all the support I’ve received so far from the media, my celebrity friends who came on board to support the event, my fans and all stakeholders. We know this new development will cause some inconvenience to my fans that bought tickets and cleared their schedule just to come support me.

“I love you guys and want to assure you that “AGBEKO vs JUMA” fight will happen soon. We will communicate the new date for the fight as soon as it is given the green light.

“Thank you for all your prayers and support and continue to pray and support me. I love you all.”

Further reports indicate that the bout will take place next month, pending requirements that Agbeko and his camp are supposed to meet.
