The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Peter Zwennes has tagged former bantamweight world champion Joseph Agbeko as “fraudster”.

According to him, the GBA did not approve the purported bout that should have come off last week between Agbeko and Kenya’s Nick Otieno.

Mr Zwennes opined that the promoters of the bout, Fresh King Promotions on many occasions have failed to abide by the GBA laws.

“Time and again we have had problems with Agbeko’s Fresh King Promotions. Four years ago, His outfit promoted a fight and it turned out at the last minute that they didn’t have money to pay the foreign boxers and he had to go to the Sports Ministry to borrow money,” he told Accra-based Starr FM in an interview.

Agbeko paid part of the money after the bout and it took 3-4 years…to pay the rest.

“Anytime he promotes a fight he does not have money to pay the boxers and so this time around we decided that Fresh King and Mr Agbeko no way, we are not sanctioning this for him to repeat the same old tactics,” he added.
Mr Zwennes added that "This fight is not coming on because we will not sanction that fight so if he says the fight will come on in two weeks that is a huge lie".

Agbeko’s scheduled bout with Kenya’s Nick Otieno was called off due to some challenges.
