Ghana President elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has remarked that he is inheriting an economy that is on the brink of collapse, a case which he puts at the doorsteps of the outgoing government.

In what seems to be a post election attack, the human rights lawyer has blamed his predecessor for not managing the economy well in the last 5 years.

The 72 year old says he will have to deal with an economy left to him by John Mahama that is characterized by  low growth, wide spread unemployment and huge debt accrued as a result of building projects with over bloated prices among other things .

The former Attorney General attributed the downward slope of the economy to John Mahama's administration's mismanagement, leading the nation to the verge of collapse.

The twice-defeated  candidate  made his intentions to deal with the dwindling economy known to Ghanaians, promising to building a factory in each of Ghana's more than 200 districts.

The Human rights lawyer, who campaigned for a return to multi-party democracy under military rule, was on 7 December overwhelmingly elected as the new President , making him the 5th president in the 4th republic of the country.

He gained 54% of the vote, beating the incumbent president  Mr John Mahama who  took 44%.

Mr Akufo-Addo is to be sworn in on 7 January.
