Al-Ittihad of Alexandria have been dealt a major blow with defender Wilson Akakpo set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Ghanaian had to be substituted as early as the 12th minute after picking up a knock in their last game against the Army Veterans.

Initial diagnosis at the match center after suggested Akapko had suffered an injury to the knee ligament or cruciate ligament.

However, further tests showed he had cartilage, internal ligament integrity and cruciate ligament damages.

The hard-tackling center back joins a long list of Al-ittihad players on the treatment table with a timeline for his recovery not yet known.
