Anas sends a heartwarming message to Buju Banton after his release from prison
12th December 2018
Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has welcomes reggae and dancehall star, Buju Banton, from prison.
Taking to Facebook, a social media platform, he posted “Welcome home, great soldier.”
The message was in reaction to a post by celebrated reggae musician, Gramps Morgan.
Buju Banton was released from a federal prison in Georgia on Friday, December 7, 2018.
This was after he was imprisoned in February 2011 for 7 years after being charged with illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute.
The Jamaican musician was sentenced to 10 years, a prison term his attorneys appealed to be reduced a year later, citing his "limited participation" in the drug operation that led to his December 2009 bust.
