Andre Ayew climbed off the bench bag a quick-fire brace for Swansea in their 3-1 win over League Two club Northampton Town in the first round of Carabao Cup.

The Black Stars skipper was introduced after the hour-mark to make his first appearance in a Swansea shirt since May 2018.

The visitors took a surprise lead with Matt Warburton's low finish in the 61st minute.

That sparked Swansea into life as Andre Ayew headed them level in the 80th minute with his first goal for the club since May 2016.

George Byers' strike from the edge of the area put them ahead three minutes later before Ayew nodded in his second.

Swansea's reward is a home tie against another League Two side Cambridge United in the second round.

The Welsh club will face Cambridge United in the second round on August 25.
