Ghana's national team captain, Andre Ayew, has urged authorities to urgently address the deteriorating condition of the pitch at Aliu Mahama Stadium, following his participation in an All Stars Festival game where he scored twice.

The stadium, once a proud venue for group and knockout matches during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, has seen its playing surface significantly degrade over time.

Videos from the recent charity match vividly showcased the poor state of the pitch, prompting Ayew to speak out about the issue.

"We have a wonderful stadium here, and I hope and pray that we will be able to work on the pitch to make it better for our teams that play their matches here. The stadium is a great one," Ayew expressed, emphasizing the need for improvements.

The current condition of Aliu Mahama Stadium has forced Ghana Premier League teams in the northern sector to relocate their home games to the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu due to the unfit playing surface.

Ayew's call for action underscores the importance of maintaining sports infrastructure to meet the standards required for competitive football, ensuring both player safety and the quality of the game.
