Fenerbahce’s forward Andre Ayew has expressed his disappointment following Bafetimbi Gomis’ switch to Saudi Arabia.

The French striker completed a shock deadline day move from Super Lig. giants Galatasaray to A-Hilal for a fee of 6 million euros ($6.9 million)

Speaking about the 33 year old hitman’s transfer to Saudi Arabia, the Ghanaian international said;

“I was disappointed by Gomis’ departure because my best friend left. We are very close, he’s like my brother. I respect him very much and he respects me. I talked with him about the transfer. Gomis loved Galatasaray and he was very popular here. He had to leave and so he left. I wanted to play in a derby against him. But God knows what’s best for us. Of course, his departure will make Galatasaray weaker. This gives us an advantage in the title race.”

He continued to talk about Fener’s aim of winning the league title.

“We will do everything we can to become champions and get that fourth star. This season will be long. We have league, cup and European games. Europa League will also not be easy. We will work hard for our goals. As I said before, we’re doing everything we can to win titles, cups. We want our supporters to back us during the bad days and the good days.”

Gomis and Ayew were teammates at Swansea City during the 2015/2016 season.
