Otiko Afisah Djaba, the National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that, should President Mahama be given another 4-years to rule over the nation, it would be  a disaster for young girls in the country.

She said, the recent economic challenges have created unemployment, school dropouts, teenage pregnancy, betrothals, forced marriages and relationships.

Otiko Djaba stated this during a forum for girls girls for Nana in action for change,  with over one thousand girls participants, including kayayes, teacher trainees, school dropouts, apprentices, unemployed graduates and others, at Georgia, in Kumasi.

She hinted that, most of the girls have been left to fend for themselves, based on the fact that their parents cannot afford to provide them with their basic needs.

She stressed that, this situation poses threats to the security and livelihoods of the girls. She advised the public to ensure to cast their votes on the basis of circumstances under which they find themselves. Adiya, one of the kayayes who lamented on their plight said, members from the NDC government offered them twenty cedis each to vote for them.

According to her, in spite of the fact that they accepted the offer- they will not vote for them. According to her, the recent economic hardships have been unfavorable to them, creating unemployment and deepening poverty.

She therefore, called on the general public to vote incompetent Mahama’s government out of power.
