The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah says that Asamoah Gyan can help the club land the elusive CAF Champions League.

He says the experience and pedigree of Ghana's all time top scorer will come in hand if he joins the club for their African Cup campaign.

The former Sunderland ace missed out on the chance to fulfilling a childhood dream last season when he opted to join Legon Cities instead of Asante Kotoko when the club pursued him.

Kotoko were in talks with Ghana's all time leading top scorer but were unable to reach an agreement with Asamoah Gyan before he opted for Legon Cities.

At Legon Cities, he was hindered by persistent injuries and loss of form as he barely played any football for the team before the season ended.

He was released from Legon Cities in October 2021 and is currently without a club but the Kotoko CEO has hinted at a possible reunion.

“Everybody knows how I have been waiting for him, I tried once but it was difficult to get him. We will keep trying and when he is ready, he knows that the doors will be open,” Amponsah said.

“Imagine Kotoko going for Champions League and we have Asamoah Gyan in our squad and he leading the attack with Mbella and Mfegue on either side of him that is the Champions League trophy right there”

“So, I am really looking to that day, I keep telling you that if even it is going to be just one match, he should make us proud.”

The Kotoko CEO was present at Gyan's book  launch and bought a copy for GHC10,000.
