Asamoah Gyan Foundation presents $7000 to talented Ghanaian boxer Joseph Awinongya Jnr

The benevolence of former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has no end in sight as the Legon Cities star through his foundation has honoured a pledge of $7,000 to 13 year old Ghana born American boxer Joseph Awinongya Junior.

This comes after the legendary Ghanaian boxer promised to support the boxing ambitions of the young talented boxer.

The donation was done at Inus Company premises in Accra on Monday with directors of the Asamoah Gyan foundation namely Messrs. Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo presented a dummy cheque to Mr, Mustapha Nettey, a member of the Team Awinongya

Awinongya Jr is an amazing teenage boxer based in the USA who has made the headlines by winning the Silver Gloves National Championship three times, St. Louis National Championship two times, Jr Olympic National Championship two times, Wisconsin National Championship two times and the USA National Championship.

He is also National Champion at the Western Elite Qualifier, King of the Jungle National Champion and Power Gloves National Champion,

Speaking at the short presentation ceremony, director of the foundation Samuel Anim Addo recounted numerous development and benevolent projects that has been embarked on by the foundation which includes health, agriculture, sports among others.

He also added that Asamoah Gyan himself a versatile sportsman is committed to unearthing talents in football, tennis, boxing among others.

Anim Addo also hinted that the foundation will soon set up an office in Illinois, USA and also launch a website.

Mr Nettey recipient of the cash sum on behalf of the young boxer says he hopes their relationship will continue to grow

Present at the ceremony were Olympic bound 19-year-old Samuel Takyi, Carl Lokko of the Bronx Gym, Randy Afriyie, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, boxing enthusiasts and some members of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU).
