Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is in the twilight of his footballing career and the says he has considered venturing into the murky waters of politics when he finally hangs his boot.

Gyan has served the nation with passion,dedication and selflessness on the pitch and believes he is ripe to serve outside the pitch too.

According the former Ghana captain he has been in talks with his team of adviser about entering into the chaotic world of politics.

He also confirms that there have been several overtures from persons in various Political parties for him to join them and use his hard earned reputation and image push their course.

“A lot of people close to me and many in my country have asked why I don’t get into politics. Because of the influence I have in Africa, they know I can do well in politics," Gyan told Hindustantimes.

"For now, my mind is not there (because) I am not out of the game yet. But anything can happen in life.”

The Ghana legend left his Turkish side as a free agent for the Indian Super League side NorthEast Uinted in the summer and has since scored three goals for his side.

Gyan was part of the Ghana Black Stars squad that failed to go progress beyond the round of 16 at the Afcon 2019 tournament in Egypt after losing to Tunisia on penalties.

The 34 year old striker who was assigned a novelty role of General Captain courted controversy when he ruled himself out of the competition after being stripped of his captaincy.

But after several persuasions from the president of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo he decided to be a part of the tournament where he was on the fringes of the first eleven.

Despite the fuss and the noise that surrounded his captaincy and appearance at the tournament, Gyan says he is still looking forward to playing for Ghana after what many though would be his last appearance at the 2019 tournament.

Asamoah Gyan is highly revered in Ghana after making seven appearances for the Black Stars at the Afcon and three at the World Cup.

He is currently the highest scoring African players at the world cup with seven goals and is Ghana  all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances for the Black Stars.
