Asante Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil loses Mother

Asante Kotoko SC have announced the death of the mother of their captain, Samba O'Neil, in a statement expressing deep sorrow and support for the defender.
The Kumasi-based Ghana Premier League side confirmed the sad news this evening, extending their condolences to O’Neil and his family during what the club described as a difficult period.
“Asante Kotoko SC, with deep sorrow, announces the passing of the mother of our club captain, Samba O’Neil,” the statement read.

O’Neil has been a key figure for Kotoko this season, leading from the back as the club pursue their league title ambitions. The centre-back is known not only for his defensive solidity but also for his aerial threat during set-pieces, particularly from corner kicks, where he has proved decisive.
