Belgium giants Anderlecht suffered a 3-1 defeat in their opening Jupiler Pro League match against unfancied Union Saint-Gilloise at home at the Constant Vanden Stadium.

Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru was handed a starting role alongside Francis Amuzu but they were unable to prevent them from losing.

Deniz Undav opened the scores of the game in the 20th minute before Anderlect pulled parity on the stroke of half time through Yari Verschaeren.

Ashimeru did not last the full duration of the game as he was replaced a minute into the second half with Kristoffer Olson.

Both sides headed into the break level but Deniz Undav completed his brace in the 62nd minute to give his side the lead.

Jean Lazare Armani completed the rout for Union Gilloise as he scored the third goal for the minnows in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1.

Francis Amuzu lasted the whole duration of the game but was powerless as his side were torn to shreds.

Anderlecht will play their next game against KAS Eupen and will be hoping for a better results.
