Aston Villa have announced their ninth summer signing, with Albert Adomah joining the side from Middlesbrough – and Villa supporters have reacted warily on Twitter to the Ghana international.

Villa chairman Tony Xia revealed the signing of the 28-year-old winger on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.
The quick attacker was left out of the Boro squad which faced West Brom on Sunday, in a signal that a move was imminent before Wednesday’s confirmation.
The club have been busy this summer, bringing in eight senior players, and Ritchie De Laet, Mile Jedinak, James Chester and Tommy Elphick have also stepped down from the Premier League.

Villa fans have reacted positively to the news, but some are wary that Adomah has joined a long list of players leaving Villa Park to compete in the African Cup of Nations in January.imageimage

Aston Villa have a long Championship campaign to contend with, and the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in Gabon 14 January – 5 February next year, will take some crucial players away from the club.

New signing Adomah, Ghana’s Jordan Ayew, Benin’s Rudy Gestede and Jonathan Kodjia from the Ivory Coast all look likely to miss five fixtures, which includes a derby match against Wolves.
