Aston Villa are set to hand Albert Adomah a new long-term contract, just months after Steve Bruce sanctioned him leaving on a free transfer.

The exit of Bruce and the appointment of Dean Smith has, however, worked in favour of the Ghanaian who is enjoying some form of renaissance under the former Brentford manager.

He has missed Villa's last two games due to injury but a pair of assists in his last appearance for the club makes him one of the team's hottest men at the moment.

Adomah was in top shape last season when he scored 15 goals which helped Claret and Blue Army to the playoffs.

They are currently three points off the Championship play-of places.
