James Atia scored twice as Soe Soccer Masters beat Bolga All Stars Babies 2-0 to win the under 17 trophy of the Zida Tournament final Sunday.

The 14year old striker scored in the 25th and 40th minutes at the Mobil Park.
Soccer Masters merited their victory haven dominated the game throughout.

Although Bolga All Stars had chances early in the second half, with tournament top scorer Nafiu Zida wasting two clear cut chances as Soccer master's defense was rock solid as it has been all through the competition.

Both teams won their semi finals matches impressively with Soccer Masters walloping Boyse FC 4-1 and Bolga All Stars beating Harvest FC 2-0 to set up an uncompromising finals.

Bolga All Stars had early beaten Soccer Masters 4-1 during the group stages of the competition.
Expectations were high with Bolga All Stars Babies gunning for a repeat whiles Soccer Masters eyeing a revenge mission. The Soe based team revenged their worst defeat in three years with a thumping performance to nicked the trophy.

Meanwhile Nayoka Fc from Walewale won on penalties 5-3 against Real Bolga United after both sides couldnt break the deadlock in regular play to win the under 15 trophy, with Mboma City FC also going back to Navrongo with the under 13 trophy after they beat Harvest FC 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw game in regulation time.

The Zida championship is an annual tournament organized by the Upper East Regional Football Association chairman, Salifu Zida and this season was the ninth edition.

Winners walked home with set of Jersey, football and trophy. Best players and top scorers for all the three categories took home a pair of football boot and gloves for best goalkeepers.

Speaking after the final match, Chairman of the Upper East regional football association, Salifu Zida called on corporate bodies to support football development in the region and also urge team owners not lose hope due to the lack of a standardized football pitch in the region as his office is working closely with the national sports authority and the Regional Coordination Council to finished the upgrade of the Bolgatanga Sports stadium.
