Christian Atsu has lamented his missed opportunities in Newcastle’s 1-1 draw against Everton at the Goodison Park on Wednesday.

The Magpies took a 19th minute lead through Salomon Rondon who smashed home after a sweeping counter-attack.

Everton responded well and were rewarded for a period of sustained pressure when Richarlison equalised seven minutes before the interval, lifting the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Atsu had two late opportunities to steal all three points for the visitors but was denied by the brilliance of Jordan Pickford.

"I'm very disappointed that I was not on the score sheet because I had the chances to score. I was prepared for this game and I wanted to score and stay with the team", the Black Stars winger said after the game.

" I would have been very happy for this ball to be on my left foot because I am sure I could have scored it " he concluded.
