Austrian side SKU Amstetten sign German-born Ghanaian defender, Lloyd-Addo Kuffour

German-born Ghanaian defender Lloyd-Addo Kuffour had joined Austrian club SKU Ertl Glas Amstetten from German fourth-tier club FSZ Zwickau. The 23 year old left-footed defender who stands 1.83m tall has now left the shores of Germany to have a taste of a different environment as he joins the Austrian outfit.
Having been a Borussia Dortmund academy graduate where he had most of his developmental experience at, the Ghanaian international could operate as left-back, centre-back and could also be deployed as a midfielder as he brings top-level youth pedigree and senior experience.
The Hannover youth of Ghanaian descent featured in 23 games for FSV Zwickau in the German fourth tier division where he contributed with three assists for his team as they placed fourth in an 18-team table with 60 points in 34 games. They had a fine season in the Regionalliga Northeast League.
Upon joining Austrian club SKU Ertl Glas Amstetten, Kuffour expressed confidence in his decision, describing the move as an important step in his professional development.
“The discussions with the club were very good, and I quickly had a good feeling that I could take the next step in my development here,” he said. “I also find the league very interesting and am happy to be taking on this new challenge. I can’t wait to be on the pitch with the boys every day and to have my first sporting experience abroad.”
The 23-year-old’s move to Austria add up the the growing list of Ghanaians making their mark in the Austrian second tier division.
