This year's awards for the best players on the planet could be the last of its kind, with the two parties set to end their relationship, according to reports.

The end of the Ballon d'Or is near as FIFA and France football have ended their agreement, Goal understands.

The FIFA Ballon d’Or was introduced in 2010 as the governing body merged their yearly World Player of the Year award with France Football’s annual Ballon d’Or prize.

However, this year's award could be the last of its kind, with France Football taking back complete control and moving the host city from Zurich.
The end of the partnership could see the return of FIFA's World Player of the Year award, with president Gianni Infantino and other officials planning a potential replacement ceremony.

As part of this, FIFA are said to be looking into moving the event around different cities each year, with London first choice to hold the first one.
