bash-620x330Ashanti Gold head coach Bashir Hayford has revealed that he is ready to take up the position of Black Stars head coach should there be an opening in future.

The veteran manager who is considered one of the best tactical brains in Ghana has already achieved immense success on the club scene wining league titles with Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold Football Club.

He has also served as head coach of Ghana’s U-20 female national team the Black Princesses between 2013 and 2015.

Hayford has already applied for the Black Stars job on two different occasions but has been unsuccessful.

The contract of Black Stars head coach Avram Grant ends after Afcon 2017 and the Ghana Football Association will have to make a decision on whether to hand the Israeli an extension with Ghana still embroiled in World Cup qualifiers.

The 60-year-old Israeli has come under intense pressure after the Black Stars failed to defeat Uganda in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, taking their winless streak to four.

“I have been unsuccessful in the past when the opportunity has come up.

“A window has not presented itself since then but if the chance comes up again I will apply.

“I am a Ghanaian and if coaches are being sought after and I feel I have the requisite knowledge why wont I put my name forward?

“If I am a carpenter and carpenters are needed for a job I will apply for that job,he told Citi Sports at the sidelines of workshop organised for coaches.
