Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has responded to former President Mahama, saying insults won't save the former President from a looming defeat.

Several news portals reported Mahama referring to Bawumia as stupid, following Mahama's reaction to Bawumia's 50 questions to him, after Mahama had initially posed 5 questions on the economy to the Vice President.

"This election is about the economy, stupid," Mahama said during his campaign in the north as he reiterated his call for Bawumia to answer his calls.

"It's not about all those other useless things about who built how many compost plants. Answer the five simple questions. And you can't hide behind the debate. You don't need the debate to answer five simple questions," Mahama added in the video, which went viral and was widely condemned.

Responding to Mahama a day later, Dr. Bawumia said Mahama has resorted to insults because he is apprehensive due to the knowledge that he will lose the election.

"So many people have seen what is going to happen, so they are worried and scared," Dr. Bawumia said.

"They know they are going to lose. They are scared. Because of that, they have started the insults. The insults have already started."

Turning his attention on Mahama, Dr. Bawumia said no matter how the former President insults, it won't save him from losing the elections because the NPP has done far better and the people of Ghana appreciate the work done.

"The Akan's have a saying that long talk does not buy a horse. Isn't it? Long talk doesn't buy a horse. I want to add that insults cannot buy a horse. You can keep insulting all the time; it won't change anything. You will still lose the election."

On the NPP's chance of winning, Dr. Bawumia said its fulfilled promises and evidence of good works across the country are the reasons many Ghanaians across the country are in support of the NPP.

"The reason why the NOP will win is because of the work we have done. Today I have inspected the ongoing university project here in Ahafo. I have also inspected ongoing hospital projects here. And we are also in the process of making Mim a district on its own."

" We promised the people of Ghana in 2016 that we will implement Free Senior High School if they vote for us. When we said that, the former President said we were deceiving Ghanaians. He said it was a 419 policy, and I told him it is possible . Since 2017, we have brought Free SHS in Ghana and 5.7 children have benefitted."
