Benjamin Asare deserves praise and not criticism - Henry Asante Twum
12th October 2025
Benjamin Asare, the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, has emerged as a pillar of consistency and leadership for the Black Stars, earning high praise from GFA Communications Director Henry Asante-Twum for his performances and character.
Since making his debut against Chad, Asare has recorded four clean sheets in five appearances, conceding just once — a testament to his composure, communication, and maturity between the posts.
“He’s proven beyond doubt that given the chance, he’s the man for the post,” Asante-Twum said on TV3’s WarmUp+.
“He talks a lot on the pitch, communicates well, and shows leadership at the back.”
Asante-Twum reflected on Asare’s early days at Royal Sportive in Tema, where he had to fight for recognition behind more established names.
“About eight, nine years ago, he was pushing to break into the team… He’s fought for his space, and today he has it.”
Asare’s openness to feedback has endeared him to teammates and coaches alike. After a risky dribble against the Central African Republic, he accepted criticism with grace.
“He said he doesn’t have a problem. If it’s going to cause issues, he’s ready to let it go. That’s how players grow,” Asante-Twum noted.
