Residentas of Bimbilla in the Northern region have been hit by gun shots at around 9 pm last night.

According to reports, the shooting was towards a group of people engaged in their normal activities living 3 dead and 7 more injured.

he gun shots forced the residents of the area to run for their lives.

The injured people have since then been conveyed to the Bimbilla District Hospital and are in a critical condition.

Other casualties resulting form the gunshots are also been conveyed to the hospital.

According Hashmin Mohammed, A correspondent for Joy News, an eyewitness has said that nine people with gunshot wounds are on admission. The eyewitness further said that their condition requires special or a tertiary health facility care but there is no ambulance to transport them to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

According to sources, more of the victims of the gunshot are been conveyed to the hospitals in pick ups.

The police however are yet to make comment on the situation at hand.

Although the reasons for the attack has not ye been disclosed some reasidents of the town are of the opinion that it is a result chieftaincy dispute.

Bimbilla is well known for such clashes resulting from chieftaincy disputes as a similar one occurred last year.

A 40-year-old woman lost her life in the process and her 14-year-old daughter was also injured.
