The Black Meteors of Ghana could only manage a disappointing 1-1 draw in their third and final round qualifier for the African U-23 nations cup tournament against Algeria at the Accra Sports stadium.

But for the sharp reflexes of goal keeper Kwame Baah the results could have been grim looking for any Ghanaian.

The Algerians were the better side for much of the first half so it was no surprise they took the lead in the half hour -mark .

Dorgane Adam slotted the ball home after Gideon Mensah failed to close down his marker.

Ghana woke up from their slumber after the sucker punch from the visitors and poured more men forward in search of the equalizer and their efforts was duly rewarded when the referee in the 38th minute adjudged that Joseph Paintsil had been fouled in the box, Yaw Yeboah stepped forward to effect the kick and pull parity for Ghana  only to blaze his kick high and wide over the goal post with the visitors taking a huge sigh of relief.

Searching for the equalizer coach Ibrahim Tanko, threw on more attacking options with coming on Joel Fameyeh for Joseph Painstil and the lucklustre Bernard Tekpetey making way for Isaac Twum at the start of the second half as they went gung ho for the equalizer and more.

Yaw Yeboah who earlier missed a penalty atoned for his sin by winning a penalty after showing some dancing feet in the box this time ex-Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed made no mistake and buried the ball in the net pulling parity.

Ghana will now jet off to Setif in Algeria where they will hope to beat the hosts to the ticket to the CAF U-23 AFCON in Egypt where a ticket for Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be up for grabs for the top 3 teams from that tournament.
