Black Queens crowned 2026 Pink Ladies Cup Champions
6th March 2026
The Ghana women's national football team, the Black Queens, have been crowned champions of the Pink Ladies Cup after the final match against the Tanzania women's national football team was cancelled due to rising security concerns in the Middle East.
Tournament organisers confirmed the decision following escalating tensions linked to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, which has heightened security risks in the region.
With the final unable to go ahead, the trophy was presented to the Ghanaian team at their hotel, officially confirming them as champions of the 2026 edition of the competition.
The Black Queens had already impressed throughout the tournament, securing convincing victories over the Hong Kong women's national football team, the China women's national football team and the Russia women's national football team to top the standings.
Their strong performances showcased attacking quality and defensive discipline, underlining the team’s growing confidence ahead of upcoming international competitions.
The triumph marks another positive step for Ghana’s women’s national team as they continue preparations for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations later this year.
Team officials and players celebrated the achievement, describing the victory as a sign of the squad’s determination and unity despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the tournament’s conclusion.
