Black Stars team manager Ameenu Shardow expresses regret over AFCON Qualification failure

Team Manager of the Black Stars, Ameenu Shardow, has publicly acknowledged the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), admitting that they have let the country down.
Ghana's qualification campaign ended in disappointment after a 1-1 draw against Angola in Luanda and a 2-1 loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving them bottom of Group F with only three points from six matches.
Reflecting on the team's performance, Shardow expressed deep regret in an interview with Happy FM, emphasizing how much the failure has hurt him personally.
He stated that the inability to qualify for such an important tournament has been a blow to the players, officials, and fans alike.
"We have let Ghanaians down by failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)," Shardow said.
"It hurts because I can't even go home because my family is hurt like I am. We have disappointed the country, and it hurts that we could not qualify for the tournament."
Ghana’s disappointing qualification campaign began with a 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw with Niger in Berkane.
The Black Stars then played out a goalless draw against Sudan in Accra, before suffering a 2-0 loss in the return leg in Libya.
