Musician and radio presenter Blakk Rasta has given back some prize trophies he previously received to the awarding organisations which bestowed them on him.

Rasta announced on Twitter on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, that Charter House, the organization behind the Ghana Music Awards as well as the organisers for Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards, had successfully received their award plaques.

Prior to returning the awards plaques, the 'Kuchoko' hitmaker had revealed that those awards were ones he won through fan voting, indicating he feels uncomfortable with the achievements.

According to him, ‘vote to win’ awards are all “bought”, and that he would prefer to be given awards solely on merit.

In his letters addressed to the CEOs for the awarding schemes, Blakk Rasta stated that he was not proud of the awards hence he was returning them so they expunge his name from their records and desist from nominating him in the future.

"I am not proud of this, and I wish to return these plaques and have my name expunged from your records," he wrote in portions of his letters sighted by Ghanaguardian.com..

He added, "Much as I appreciate your efforts in appreciating people, this falls short of merit and decency. I ask respectfully that you desist from nominating me in the future unless this unfortunate criterion changes to TRUE MERIT AWARDS standards."
