Afi Antonio Foundation is taking in praise after raising funds to cater for the operation on a little Ghanaian baby with blue eyes suffering from deafness and dumbness.

The child, Chogtaa, reportedly had a successful surgery in South Africa. Her surgery bandages are expected to be taken off soon, while by March 15th, she would be able to hear sound by help of a device.

The foundation wrote via social media: “We promise to post her reaction when that happens in March. Continue to have us in your prayers. Remember we will still need your contributions for her second ear.”

“God bless everyone who made this possible… Your contributions, prayers and sharing of her stories… God bless you."

Uploading a picture of her listening device, the foundation said that the hearing aid alone is more than $17,000, or about GHC 91,000. The device has been implanted a little bit above Chogtaa’s right ear.

The device is for life but new accessories have to be bought as they continue to be updated.

When the device is switched on in March, she will be able to hear sound, starting with sounds in nature. Then as the weeks and months goes by through therapy, she will gradually hear human voices.

It is after her hearing of voices that she would have to be thought languages and possibly repeat them.

This same process will be done for the both ears at rather huge cost. Afi Antonio Foundation pleads with well-meaning members of the public to help in getting the necessary help for young Chogtaa.
