BoG raises GHc4.91bn in 56-day bill auction to manage liquidity

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has mobilised GH¢4.91 billion through the sale of its 56-day bills on October 6, 2025, as part of measures to regulate short-term liquidity in the financial system.
According to the auction results released by the central bank, successful bids were accepted within a discount rate range of 20.00% to 20.81%, with a weighted average discount rate of 20.79%. The corresponding interest rate for the bills was 21.48%.
The relatively high yield reflects tight liquidity conditions in the money market and investors’ continued preference for short-term government securities, even as expectations build for further monetary policy easing.
The issuance forms part of the BoG’s ongoing open market operations (OMO) aimed at absorbing excess liquidity and maintaining stability in short-term interest rates across the financial sector.
