Four staff of Anum Rural Bank in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region have been nabbed for stealing a total of Ghc141,498.00.

The indicted former staff – Stephen Akoto(dispatch Rider), Eunice Avadzie(Cashier), Rosedarling Appiah Kubi((Cashier) and Georgina Dzramado (Susu Collector) reportedly committed the financial fraud separately in 2018 which were detected after an internal audit.

According to the management of the bank, Stephen Akoto stole Gh9,000 depositors savings, while Eunice Avadzie allegedly stole Gh89,840.

Rosedarling Appiah Kubi is also accused of illegally withdrawing Gh23,721 while Georgina Dzramado took away a total of Ghc18,937.

While Eunice Avadzie and Rosedarling Appiah Kubi are before Odumase Krobo Circuit Court, the rest have admitted and agreed to refund the monies in installments making initial total payments of Ghc20,050.

In spite of this financial infraction and the challenges in the Banking Industry that threatened the sector, Anum Rural Bank performed well recording a net profit before tax of Ghc1,068,834.00 compared to the 2017 figure of Ghc767,617 an increase of 39.24%.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors-Daniel Adu, the Stated capital of the Bank has also risen to Gh1,917,253.00 an increase of Gh1,320,225.00 in 2017, a growth of 45.22% due to the transfer of Ghc500,000.00 in 2017 from income surplus to equity account and acquisition by shareholders.

Meanwhile, management of the back have initiated processes to retrieve the stolen cash.
