Black Stars coach C.K Akonnor has this evening named a 23 man squad that will play Mali in a friendly match next month in Turkey.

The game forms part of preparations to keep the team in shape ahead of November's AFCON qualifier with Sudan.

Ghana has not played a competitive game since playing against Sao Tome and Principe in November 2019 in the AFCON Qualifier.

Coach C.K Akonnor has handed call ups to a lot of debutants namely  France based Alexander Djiku who plays for Strasbourg, Yakubu Mohammed of Azam FC in Tanzania, Benson Anang of MSK Zilina in Slovakia, Emmanuel Lomotey of Amiens in France and youngster Kamal Deen who plays for Danish side Nordsjaelland. Pyramid FC’s John Antwi has also been handed a call up by the Ghana Coach.

John Antwi was was last called up in 2017 in FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda but never played a single minute has been handed a another chance following his outstanding form for Pyramids FC.

Crystal Palace's Jeffrey Schlupp makes a return after a four year hiatus to the squad while Bernard Mensah who has resurrected his flailing career in Turkey has been handed a second chance after five years since his last call up.

The former Kotoko gaffer was named coach of the Black Stars in January this year as replacement for Kwesi Appiah but is yet to play any competitive game.

He was due to face Sudan in the AFCON qualifier but that match was rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
