Emotions were high for Caleb Ekuban after he scored for Trabzonspor in perhaps the most difficult week of his life.

The on-loan Leeds striker was expected to miss Trabzonspor’s clash with Kayserispor after his mother passed away earlier in the week.

The former Chievo Verona hitman however asked to play and came off the bench to score the opener and set his side on their way to a 2-0 win.

The 24 year old celebrated emotionally and was congratulated by the whole Trabzonspor squad, who knew of his mother's passing.

“I did what I had to do after my mother’s death,” Ekuban said in a postgame interview.

Ekuban was born in Italy to parents of Ghanaian descent. Leeds bought him in 2017 from Chievo Verona. Eligible for both the Italian and Ghanaian national teams, he's said he'd prefer to represent Ghana internationally.
