The said statement has been shared widely on both on traditional media and social media with the NPP stalwart attracting a backlash for himself over the issue.

Reacting to the issue on Twitter, Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, said the comment authored by Hopeson was an unfortunate one, and therefore asked that the latter be called to urgently retract.

"Chief Alan Kyeremanteng should as a matter of urgency call on his Director of Operation, Hopeson to retract his unfortunate comment forthwith," He tweeted.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh indicated the NPP is a beautiful party that has a respected tradition. He advised the candidates seeking to lead the party and their supporters to use civil approach in their operations to have a clean campaign.

"We have a beautiful Party with a respected Tradition, let's conduct a civil and clean campaign," he tweet added.

Meanwhile, Hopeson Adorye has issued a disclaimer that he never made such comments. According to him, his statement has been doctored to some extent by the Bawumia camp for mischief purposes.

He explained that, he only stated that the NPP has adopted to a formula which the party has used since its formation.

The said formula, he termed the 'Christian-Muslim ticket' - where a Christian is the flagbearer and the running mate is a Muslim.
